Canada strongly encourages intercultural exchange among the youth.

International Experience Canada (IEC) program is an exciting opportunity for young people from certain countries to come to Canada and work temporarily for up to one year at a time.

Who can participate in International Experience Canada?

The requirements are very simple. Normally, you must:

  • be a foreign youth

  • between 18 and 35 years of age (for some countries the maximum age is 29 or 30 years old)

  • be a citizen of a country that has a bi-lateral agreement with Canada regarding the Youth Exchange program

IEC is a special program beacuse it offers young individuals 2 different types of work permits, depending on the IEC stream:

  • open work permit (for Working Holiday stream applicants)

  • employer-specific work permit (for Young Professional and International Co-op stream applicants)

The International Experience Canada (IEC) application process involves various steps.
