The Canadian government lists the nationalities that are visa-exempt. Currently, individuals from over 50 countries are able to enter Canada without having to apply for a visitor visa.

If you are a national of a visa-exempt country, you must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before coming to Canada.

The application for eTA is made online and includes questions related to your employment, medical condition, criminal history etc.

As of today, only U.S. citizens and travelers with a valid visa do not need an eTA to enter Canada.
